Youtube will become your bestfriend lol its how I started...brushes are key...you don't have to use expensive brands to get the look you want...for basic makeup looks keep your inner lid lighter than the rest...and apply a warm (brown, purple, any deep color) in your socket part of your eye (crease) and blend it in...always highlight under your brow bone...check out my page for ideas...if you need more info feel free to ask I'm happy to help :)
but its true what they say...very cliche lol but practice makes perfect..good luck hun

It's a good color for the socket of your eye only apply that color to the sink in socket part..and use a little less...and then use a light color (cream, pink) on your lid...good try though hun..don't worry you'll get the hang of it...also do not use the same brush for your lid and socket it will mesh the colors together...and don't forget use a light color to highlight under your eyebrows

Also is it weird that I don't wear eyeliner on the top eye? just the bottom?

It's not I promise you...pick three colors
1.tan or cream with or without shimmer for under your eyebrows (lightest color)
2.warm color (brown, purple, blue, green) w.e you like and apply in your crease (socket part)
3. a light pink or cream or tan and apply to your whole lid under your crease...
Thats it for a very basic look
use different brushes or just wipe off your brushes so your colors don't mix...
after applying every color use a windshield wiper motion or little circles to blend out the color...before moving on to the next one

And no it's not weird there's no rules in make up just personal preference...have fun with it...sometime I only line the top outer half of my upper lid...there's millions of ways...do w.e works best for you...and do not give up!
check out my page for ideas :)

Eyeliner just on the bottom line can make your eyes look droopy. Oh, and basically what savina is saying is: light color on the lid, slightly darker color near the end of the lid and/or crease. Highlights are optional.

Rose- do my eyes look droopy in my profile picture? I only have eyeliner on the bottom

Also do I out eyeliner on the top just like the bottom? a thin line alllmost all the way across?

Not in the picture you posted, I didn't even know you were wearing eyeliner. But If it's really laid on there, it can look odd.

And yeah, exactly. You can vary it once you get the hang of it (winged, thicker towards the edges, etc) I find gel liners the easiest, btw.

Brighten it up and you'll be fine.

Start with a single shade then, I personally use copper with a beige over it generally, it matches my blue eyes, but just start with natural shades and work your way up to brighter colors.
