For over a year now, I've been dealing with extremely oily hair :( I think it's due to the fact that I took my hair stylist's advice and only wash my hair every 2 to 3 days. Idk if my scalp is dry and that's why it's overcompensating oil. My other problem is when I scratch my scalp, there's a white, waxy residue in my nails. I've done some research and I believe it's due to my sebaceous glands. I'm so tired of being embarrassed with my hair and scalp :( please help! Is there a certain shampoo you use or some hair treatment you've discovered?
P.S. I use head and shoulders shampoo

Honestly I have oily hair too and my hairstylist said that if its not necessary to wash your hair every day then don't but if it is oily then you should wash it every day. I also use head and shoulders and I wash my hair every day and lately my hair has not been as oily. Also another cause might be too much conditioner so just try to use a small amount if any at all. Hope this helps :)

Try using the clear brand shampoos. I also have oily hair and dry scalp and shampoos that were for dry scalp just irritated my scalp more.

I have exactly the same problem...when you know you are not going anywhere for a while don't wash your hair for a week and then wait another week and wash it again. Use coconut oil inbetween washes too...your hair should be okayish after a while, but then don't wash it often again. Keep oiling your hair inbetween washes...hope it works for you.

Www.moogoo.com.au Hun, I have a problematic scalp too. The shampoo they make is a god send. All natural. Chemicals just mask the problems half the time, not actually help. This stuff will not make you flake or itch or anything. I recommended it to all the girls on here with scalp issues. Sulphates and silicons in shampoos are bad for you and a lot of Lol have issues with them.

Sounds crazy but try using an oil on dry hair and really massage it into your scalp to help stimulate your hair follicles (this is more for the benefit of the scalp and the residue. alternatively make sure you rub in the shampoo well and rinse well. Make sure you don't apply conditioner to the roots, just run it through the ends and mid length. try not to wash it everyday if you can, use a good dry shampoo like batiste to give at least a day rest inbetween washes.

You should try putting coconut oil mixed with aleo Vera and a few drops of tree tea oil. My sister had a similar problem this has helped

I recommend using selsun blue once a week and doing a deep conditioning with pure coconut oil. Also try not to touch or scratch your scalp often.
