Honey - Even though it's very sticky it has great qualities. It is a natural antiseptic which can be used to calm the skin and help treat cuts. It reduces wrinkles and it holds moisture into your skin. Also eating a tablespoon of honey is great for your overall health and blood circulation.

Thanks!!
also lemons-very useful to fade acne scars and breakouts! lemon and honey is the best face mask I have come across for my acne prone skin!! I swear by it! lemons naturally cleanse your pores and the citric acid fights against pimple causing bacteria! honey is known to have anti bacterial properties.

I want to share one tip my mom usually does. she makes hair oil at home.
the base is coconut oil, in it she puts hibiscus flowers which are known to be awesome for hair. she puts 8-10 flowers everyday in the oil. she keeps this oil for 8days to let the goodness of flowers go in the oil.
at the 8th day, she cuts fresh aloevera (which we have in our garden) , few Neem leaves ( Neem leaves are known for their anti bacterial properties and we Indians use them in almost everything) , few Indian gooseberries (they make your hair strong, shiny and silky and have good amounts of vitamin C)
After adding all these good things in the coconut oil, she boils it for 10-15mins so that all the goodness seeps in the oil.
and then you are done!!
the best oil I have seen till date!!
using it since years and it has made my hair awesome also no split end worries!
love my mom!:)

Natural Greek yogurt as a face mask; oats, honey, and milk I use all the time in the bath, sugar and salt for body scrubs, HEMP OIL <3 this stuff is great! In food or on the skin/hair. Apricot oil is another one of my favourites. Also nice for massaging sensitive skins :)

Thank you so much for this list and definitions! I am becoming very interested in natural products like these but never had enough info or knew where to look to educate myself.
I am actually waiting for my order of Ghanaian Shea Butter, unrefined to help my face, and raw Ghanaian Black Soap. I also want to try Coconut Oil and few more items from your list to help my dry patches, redness and blemishes.

Shauna, if I could ask you - would you recommend Borage Oil in cream or Virgin as a form of moisturiser for quite sensitive, dry skin, with light Rosacea on cheeks?

Shauna S.
Magdalena, I love your name! Anyway, basically the difference is that you get a higher concentration of the product if it's "virgin" meaning it's in it's purest form. With Borage Oil, I have heard that the cream works just as well if you use it consistently and improves the look of your skin in 2 weeks. It also has amazing benefits to your skin if you take it orally. Lots of skin irritations are associated with an imbalance of fatty acids in your body and this oil helps to even it out and reduce inflammation if taken orally. Sometimes the body isn't used to things being in it's purest form right away so I would suggest trying the cream first to see how you like it. I found a good article that might help you (:

African Black Soap - This is used for every skin type and it can also be used in your hair. It reduces wrinkles, dark sports, reduces razor burn, reduces the redness and inflammation of rashes and it works great for people with skin diseases such as eczema. It can also be used to exfoliate the skin.

Hemp Oil - Hemp Oil is great for moisturizing and energizing the skin. It's great to reduce the redness and inflammation of rahes, and if taken orally (eating the seed) it can help with your hormonal balance.

Shauna - thank you so much! I have Borage Oil cream for now, so I will try it first. Doing skin test I had no reaction or burning sensation so fingers crossed this would work.
My name is Polish. Most of the time I just use Magda for short. :-)

No problem let me know how it turns out! Yeah doing skin tests are a great way to see if you will react to it or not. I was always told to do a "patch test" on my back. Where I get a heavy duty band-aid at leave the product on my back for 2 days (without showering) then remove it and watch it for another 2 days to see if there are any delayed reactions.
And no problem Devyani, I should be posting more soon!

Hi Megan, I would suggest you try Argan Oil, it's amazing for anti-aging. It's very nourishing and helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Also, coconut oil is great to put on your face overnight and should help reduce wrinkles as well.

Steven, I would suggest trying either honey, vitamin e oil, or African black soap. All of these products help to lighten dark spots.
