It's my one huge downfall. I always feel like when I do it on someone else, I don't see a difference in their lashes except for in the color. Maybe I'm just being scared about poking their eyes or dotting mascara all over their face but I never feel like I give them enough lift or curl. Any advice on how to get a dramatic lash without falsies? (I work at a counter that doesn't sell them.)

When you want to start turn the brush kinda like poking your eye and spread the left over mascara over you're eyelashes and then close you're eye half way down and start combing when you start start at the ends of your eye and at the corners kinda push them towards the center so they will look fuller and longer.

It also depends on how long you're eyelashes are.. And if they are flat or curled.

Thanks.
But I meant on other people. Not just how to apply mascara on myself in general.

I mean I blink repeatedly when I put mascara on myself. Would it be crazy to ask a client to do the same thing?

Well when I do someone's makeup I ask them to look down I usually comb them down wards then ask them to face up and kinda look down so I can see their eyelashes and not stain their cheek or under the eye.. But everyone's different what mascara do you use?

Oh I never use the same mascara but I work with Urban, Smashbox, Benefit and Too Faced. Maybe I just don't use enough pressure but I really don't see a difference in their lashes after I do them lol.

When using mascara wands, try bending the brush so its on an angle. It helps me position the wand better for an easier application.

When I work on my clients, I usually tell them to look at my lips. Weird I know, but it is basically the perfect level for you to brush the mascara onto their lashes without it hitting the eyelids or lower. And what Gina said as well, bending the wands help. I usually put the wand right from tip and just wiggle it up to the tip. Usually the lip level method will help a lot.

You can get mascara fan brushes, they're incredible. Follow with a heated eyelash curler and a second coat of mascara.

I always use a mascara fan brush - I think they work best for applying on clients because they are fantastic at coating each individual lash and preventing and clumpiness or over-application (which leads to face-smearing ;) )
