I have a navy blue dress and I'll be wearing a gold necklace and black heels. I thought of gold nailpolish, but is that a good idea?

Yes very in. Why not look around at patterns involving the whole outfit. Using stencils etc. you may be able to pull in the theme of your accessories aswell.

Maybe white nails would look good, because the contrast of your outfit is dark, so the nails could pop. Or maybe a sheer nude color? You could even go with a French manicure. Or a gradient effect on your nails Ex. Start with white and then ombre the nail with a gold glitter polish.
