Since I have a dark complexion (as you can see in the picture hahaha) I'm having a hard time finding vibrant & colorful shadows that show brightly on my skin. I'm venturing away from earth tones but majority of colors I want to use (like purple, emerald, shades of blue), I have yet to get right. any suggestions or recommendations??

Maybe the maybelline color tattoo tenacious teal or edgy emerald? The colors are really shiny and might look good on your complexion. Sorry for my english, it's not my first language ;)

You should try M.A.C. They cater to women of all color so their pigments are strong and will show on your beautiful skin.

Try sugar pill shadows they are gorgeous and super pigmented. For a look that pops even more try a white eye shadow base underneath them like Nyx jumbo eye pencil in milk.

I have the same problem. I went out to get NYX jumbo pencil in Milk an ulta was all out. Got Rimmel brand and it works great. Its something about starting with a white base that makes your color pop. I can't explain it but thats what worked for me.

Another tip, is to wet your brush when applying shadow it will have a stronger color. Apply your eye make up wet.. I do it all the time when I want darker colors to show up. I did it today with green ;)

Like Jessica said the NYX jumbo pencil in Milk is a great base for using bright eyeshadows- but if they're out of it, they do have a white eyeshadow base that works just as well and doesn't crease! Also NYX has a lot of really bright bold eyeliners both liquid and khol pencil, and matte/shimmer eyeshadows. These shadows are very pigmented, inexpensive (between $3-$6), great color pay off, and also come in palettes which are all very reasonable as well, most are around $10. NYX also has really good bold glitter liners, and loose glitters and pigments, that are absolutely gorgeous. Also I think you should look into Shany cosmetics and her palettes because there is a girl on youtube I follow that always does bright shadow looks and she has a dark complexion as well and these show up reallllly bright on her skin. Shany cosmetics are palettes that are all very affordable (all under $30, usually around 10-25 a piece, depending on what palette you get) here's a link to their website: http://www.shanycosmetics.com/
and here's a good palette I think you'll like with a lot of color options & is affordable:

hope this helps! xo

NYX milk pencil is a must. Coastal Scents has a 252 palette that is so wonderfully pigmented its amazing and cheap. I have on the pencil and some of the blues in the palette in this picture.

MAC paintpot in Soft Ochre is a holy grail product for me. It's a fleshy beige color, and being that it's pale on darker skin, it helps for colors to really pop, and they don't crease!

I agree with Chelsey.. Paintpot rocks. It enhances all colors and prevents your skin from absorbing the eye shadow.

Get into olives, frosty green and shimmery colors. coastal scents and BH cosmetics have decent palettes.
