If you want to do makeup without school, practice, practice, practice. A lot of the makeup people I watch on YouTube & follow on Instagram have done it without proper schooling. If I were you, I'd watch videos on YT, practice on yourself & other people. Once you feel comfortable enough to do other people on a serious level, get business cards to get your name out there. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter wherever you want. That's what I did. Take good quality pictures of your work on other people.

Try your local library for beauty books. YouTube is also a wonder teacher. There are so many wonderful tutorials on there to help you. You could try some make up DVDs. I went to beauty school and I sad that the course was mostly hair and getting you prepared for state board, but my teacher let me borrow some wonderful makeup DVDs. Do different styles on friends and take pictures for a portfolio. That's so important to show off your work.

The best thing I say to anyone who wants to become a artist is to study it and practices and find if there are makeup classes in your area. All the other stuff like social media is ok but that doesn't make you truly understand the craft because it goes deeper then that and a lot of miss informed information gets spread like Wild fire.Study every eye shadow style and technique because they're so many that doesn't get notice or gets mistakenly called smokey eye lol Books and history of the world of makeup can help you really understand to help you make your own style and creative mind flow with ideas and every different face is of importants to help with your skills and once you have that down get your portfolios together meet up with photographers to help get your work out there. It's networking and business but because now in almost every corner anyone claims to be a Mua you need to prove what makes you different from the rest and if your serious and it's not just a random skill crush because of the hype of it lately, I'm sure you get what I mean and if this is what you want go for it and I'm sure you will be great at it if you really work hard for it.I'm for encouragement and I'm for the truth of this industry it's not so cut and dry just because you could put on foundation. But if you could keep going knowing it's what you loveto do that's all that matters so research and keep pushing and good luck  :-)
