Over the summer I went swimming and tried blow drying/straighting my natural curly hair. Then 2 days before school started I went to get my hair done. When I finished getting it done it was SHORT. I think the clorine and me trying to do my hair damaged it. So what can I do to grow out my hair. Keep in mind I'm african american so the products cuacasion people use won't work on my hair. NOT BEING MEAN. Please help me by commenting.

The best thing to do I'd keep trimming the damaged bits every 6-8 weeks depending, and maybe avoid chlorine and heat products as much as possible to prevent further damage, I heard if you drink a lot of water it helps too :)

Coconut oil is amazing. cover your whole head with it and tie it up in a bun. sleep on it overnight then to next morning wash it out. works amazingly.

I recommend going on YouTube to find some black beauty gurus. There are so many hair journey vids for relaxed hair. I suggest getting inspiration and advice from YouTube, going on longhaircareforum or blackhairmedia and doing research. Build your own hair regime and go on a hair journey for a year with co-washing, hot oil treatments, and protective styles.
