My dress for homecoming is an actual dress from the 40's and I'm planning to update it a little (shorten the hemline, etc) and I need some vintage makeup Ideas that would go with the dress. Please help! :)

Vintage makeup was kept pretty simple. With this dress do either a nude pink or bold red lips (if you do red, make sure you use the right shade for you. if pale pure reds are good, if olive skin have more brown to it, if darker skinned have purple to it) and either a simple black eyeliner or with a little flick. If you want eyeshadow stick to nudes (browns and maybe a light nude pink in there), keep it simple, no smokey eyes or anything fancy. If you want to stray from vintage makeup a nude smokey eye would look good, just isn't vintage.

You could take from the era where pastel colors were popular, which looks like that's when this dress was from, and do a pale natural pink lip, a bit of rouge, and a monochrome pastel green or pink eye with a cute cat eye. :)

The green pastel in the eye wouldn't really be accurate, if that is what she is wanting. Makeup looks were way simpler then, and color was left for lips and cheeks. Also, with the style and print of dress a subtle wing (flick) would be better than a bold cat eye, it would be a more accurate look.

Pastel makeup looks were used on eyes very subletly so, I was implying a light mint or pale rosy pink, and when I say cat eye, I didn't mean anything bold at all.

Cat eyes are bold. I see so often people get cat eyes and wings confused. And pastel greens weren't really used in makeup then. If she wants accurate that doesn't work.

I have been obsessed with the 40s-mid 60s half my life, I live for that style, and know it better than the current style.

Um okay :) just something like this. It was merely a suggestion that I thought would fit the dress, that's all. It's up to her anyway.

I think you should do simple and sassy with this dress...During this era outgoing was a pop of red on the lips...so I'm thinking mat red lips are a must! Eyes I'm thinking earth tone yellow not to draw away from the lips and a vintage medium line cat eye with black liquid liner...I don't know how your doing your hair but I think loose curls pinned to the side is very classic!!-good luck! Enjoy homecoming! Be the belle of the ball!!

I don't think it has to be super authentic to the times. Most people won't know the difference. I think the most obvious vintage look would be the winged liner and red lips. The dress is gorgeous btw💖

Since you're slightly updating the dress I don't see the need to go fully authentic with the makeup. Winged liner would look really nice, or you can try and stay close to a 1940's look.
