I think your hair has to be wet first though.

While your hair is damp split it in 2 equal parts. If you want add a curling creme (I use not your mothers kinky moves) then twist your hair into a bun. Repeat on other side. Go to sleep and in the morning you will have naturally curly hair

Braid and take out, that will look more kinky than curly, try Bantu knots, sock buns, if you do a fishtail and leave it in then when you take it out you will have nice waves, flexi rods, and soft rollers work as well.

For ringlet curls, try this. It really works.. Trust me!! Basically you put your hair into a low rope braid. If you don't know how to do a rope braid, look up a tutorial. Also do the braid once your hair is like 75-90% dry. Take it out in the morning and they are beautiful.

Try conair's spiral curlers. They work great! I'm sure there's tutorials on YouTube and I think they aren't too expensive.

For curls try pin curls. They come out so nice. YouTube pin curls. No heat and no product needed besides clips.
