So I looked at a few colleges around Seattle area , the esthetics programs and am really interested in the makeup application part of it but almost all the schools only teach makeup application for about a day of week and that's it! with only that small of time on makeup could I be a makeup artist in the future or no??

I'm starting as a freelance make up artist. its good to know that there are more options sometimes specially when there are any closer. I think that the esthetics license will give you the same discounts too.

I'm a professional freelance makeup artist and licensed esthetician. I don't think anyone should do makeup or become a makeup artist if they don't have the passion for it. I didnt go to school to learn makeup, I'm self taught although they do teach you a little in the esthetics program. check out my site; jenvyartistry.com

I live near Everett, WA I went to Paroba, the makeup part sucked. I know Evergreen has Youngblood but I don't know how much they go into it and then Aveda I'm not sure.
My friend is a cosmo at Gene Juarez and they had a cool makeup portion looks like.
In WA you don't need a license to be a makeup artist, so just try and get experience. Do makeovers for friends and have a little photoshoot, look for gigs too. I used to go to a fashion design school and have a connection with them for fashion shows and designers. So, try and get connections. If someone you know is getting married, offer yourself or if you know a photographer.
Esthetics is a great way to get to know skin. I'm self taught doing makeup and went for Esthetics cause I have a skin condition and I want my skin to look good. I realized it goes hand in hand, because good skin is the foundation for amazing makeup.
You get to know products better too which in turn help you in doing makeup.
It's great to get that behind you to do makeup, but it's not necessary either.
