I am tired of everyone telling everyone to wear a bright red lipstick when someone asks what lipstick color will look good on them. That color does not work on everyone and and yet everyone is treating it like it does, and all because it is so in right now. If you have olive skin, no, don't wear it, it makes you look more green, it doesn't look good (go with something a little more burnt). Most cases (there are some exceptions), the darker your skin is (starting at not too dark of a color even) the worse it looks (you should start adding purple to it, or some burnt to it). There IS a color of red for everyone, but bright red (vintage, cherry, pure, etc), does NOT work on everyone, and way too many people that it won't work on get told that it will. And honestly, so many of the girls on this site are jump down your throat if you don't say something 100% positive that I usually choose to avoid saying anything.
Red will always be a good and loved lip color, but I am so tired of it being a fad (though I always get annoyed with fads). This is a color I have loved and worn for 10 years (wow I feel old) and I am tired of seeing it abused.

It is best with cool undertones, on lighter skins (not necessarily pale)

My sister recently got a bright red lipstick and we were both excited but then meh! she looked like ronald mcdonald (haha!) so yea, totally not for everyone. I had her try darker berry shades and browns, and those seemed to work well. :)

Armela, I didn't even think about small lips, you are so right though, too bold of a color.
Josephine, oh no, the ronald mcdonald look! That sucks, but at least it was realized and she didn't embarrassingly go out with it on! Glad she found something that worked.

Lol totally agree it doesn't do for all of us.
