This may seem really stupid but I don't have sewing materials on me and so what should I do to fix this frayed string? I don't have fabric glue either.

Do you have a pin? If its an emergency then staple it but you can ruin it your just going to have to be gentle.

You can use clear nail polish on the frayed string
