Hairgel=more hold,but too heavy.in that case,hairspray is way better,aspecialy if you're making more loosen,casual hairstyle.

Hairspray works better for my mom and we have the exact same hair. So I have never used hair gel but I think I might try it sometime by for now, hairspray for me (:

It depends what you are doing! I'm a hairstylist and I love using avedas confixor gel on bobs because it gives the perfect about of hold without the crunch of hairspray and isn't too heavy. on shorter styles like pixies and men I like avedas flax seed gel because it is strong hold but not crunchy! I always finish off each client with a little hairspray!

I use hairspray because it allows my hair to move a bit, if I want more control I use mousse, and I never use gel I think that's better for shorter or curlier hair, it would just weigh my hair down.

Definitely agree with Megan, it's all about what you're trying to do. I personally use a paste and a spray every day, I use the paste/clay/gel (whatever I'm feeling that day) to provide good base hold, texture, and shine, and I use spray to maintain the style.
