Just be your self but for beauty. I say this is the time to reinvent urself. but either changing your hair or doing something completely different for make up. all you need to do is take the time to change things up and mature.

Don't wear too much makeup. I'm a sophmore and I still don't wear makeup not even mascara. noones going to look at if you wear makeup in hs trust me it just matters about your personality. and just wear normal clothes and keep your hair straight or curly. look clean!

I would say just be yourself and stay away from drama and people that just create and live from drama, focus on your school work because if you mess up your freshman year you will have a hard time making up classes as a senior (trust me lol), make lots a of friends, join clubs, after school programs, and just try to enjoy yourself as much as you can(:

As far as beauty goes do whatever the hell you want!! It drives me crazy how everyone says "natural" is better (and sometimes vice versa). If that's what YOU want, then by all means go for it, but if you're wanting to do dramatic eyeliner or a bold lip with cat eyes then don't be afraid to do it! At the end of the day all that matters is that you're being true to yourself. If you're trying to be someone you're not people will notice. My only other advice would be to bring flats if you're going to wear heels and to get some spandex shorts (spanx might work well) if you're going to wear a dress. You never know if the wind will blow your skirt up or if some perv will try to get a peek up your dress going up the stairs.
