I like the idea but it needs some volume. I suggest curling it in rows then running your fingers through it or picking it with the pointy end of a comb to manipulate the shape of the hair. (.yes I know that Rihanna's hair is cut but its the same technique)

Or elevated it with your fingers lifting at the root and at a couple curls in the front

I can't do that because that part is braided as well n the curls fell out so I just swooped it.
