I used lemon and chamomile last year in the Mediterranean to make my hair lighter and it worked. I just boiled 3 bags of chamomile in a cup of water so it was more condensed, then squeezed an entire lemon into it. I then put it into a small spray bottle and walked down to the beach everyday and sprayed it in there. When you first put it in it's a bit sticky but once it drys it goes away and it smells really good. :) After I was there all day I'd either rinse my hair or leave it in. I repeated this everyday (but go out into the sun frequently and for long periods of time or it won't work). The sun helps your hair turn lighter. Also you can use the cup you made for a few days depending on how much hair you have. Lol sorry that was long but hope it helped!
