I wouldn't say there is a "perfect" place because press on nails can be purchased at just about any big box store (Walmart, Target, KMart, etc) or any drugstore (Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreens). They can also be found at most grocery stores, beauty supply stores and dollar stores. However, the best brands to me are Kiss or Broadway because they last the longest and have great styles.

If you're talking about plastic press-on nails, you can get them anywhere. If you're talking about acrylic or gel nails, do your homework and pick a good, hygienic salon with experienced and licensed nail techs. Ask around your area, get recommendations, and when you admire someone's nails ask where they get them done. You can also check the websites of quality products like Creative Nail Design and OPI for a list of authorized salons in your area: if a person has taken the time to train with one of these companies and maintain that relationship, they've already been vetted and your job is half done.

Asia, especially Japan, have a lot of great fake nails or Nail designers. Or you can design by yourself and be creative with things around you. Just learn it from people ideas, it helped me a lot.
