I need Messy bun help for long hair!

Ok so I've got long hair and trying to get it in a messy bun is hard! I've watched just about every YouTube video but I can't get it! It falls down and is crazy loose and the bun itself looks like crap and is sticking out everywhere and falling! Can you please give me some tips/help? Thanks!

Put your hair into a ponytail then twist it around the base and tie it off with another elastic, pin it down and spray with hairspray. This may sounds gross but try it with hair that hasn't been washed the night before or the morning of.
