Would this make a cute school bag?

Hi girls! So I've decided to crochet with pop tabs a sort of messenger bag for school this year. Here's the site I got the instructions from http://www.poptabpurse.blogspot.com/2009/12/square-bottom-red-purse.html?m=1
I was wondering what yarn/string to use? On the site they use nylon but I don't know would that work for the pop tabs? I want this bag to last awhile so I don't want the pop tabs to be able to cut through whatever thread or yarn I use. Also what color/s should I use? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated very much! Thanks! (:

I use the #4 nylon and you have to bend the tabs that way they don't cut. Any color looks adorable soo whatever is your fav ;)

@Renne R, thanks! An what's the difference between #4 nylon and #18? On the website they use #18 so which is better? Thanks!! @Emily S, how would you think it'd break? @Halle C, thanks! @Jolie R, ya haha but I like it(:

The string is thicker so just go to walmart or any craft store and find one that is cute and thick. That way it won't rip right away. Plus you have to add linning to it and that helps keeping it together ;)

K thanks! I have 436 bottle tabs ppl and my family have been saving since winter! :) going to wash them and bend the metal back today. 😅 @Renee R.
