Hi I have naturally straight hair, it's a litttle frizzy and has a very little amount of wave in my bangs but I can't seem to get my hair to do anything like curls or even the beachy look. I'm looking for tips on how to curl or wave my hair and get it to stay. I've tried totally twisted mousse and gel by Herbal Essences but neither seem to stay all day when I braid my hair over night with the product in. Help?

How old are you? When I was younger, like in the beginning of highschool and all throughout highschool, I could never hold a curl. I also have naturally straight hair. As the years went by and all the failed attempts, one day when I ran out of conditioner, I curled my hair and it stayed curled. I began to realize that my hair when I was younger was "too healthy" sounds dumb I know, but I never did anything to my hair, never dyed it, let it air dry, didn't use products in my hair only when I wanted to try and keep it curled, but the more I curled my hair even though it usually failed, the more I damaged my hair. I would curl it in the morning and curl it at school during a break, and it started getting less healthy, It wasn't like those girls who straighten there hair too much and there hair just looks fried, it was just slightly damaged and not as soft, it started getting use to the heat and started to hold a curl. Even now, I still find this to be true for me. When I get a hair cut, I don't completely trim away the dead ends because when I did one time, my hair was back to not holding a curl, all that was left was the healthy hair and it wouldn't curl until it started to get damaged. Sounds weird I know, I'm not saying to go damage your hair, but I think eventually with all your failed attempts it will get there on its own. Use a high heat curling iron too. I got a cheap Revlon one that was gold and black and it worked for me.
