I'd like to get my hair to have a reddish tone so I tried the natural way by using henna. I just got done with it and I was disappointed by the results. In sunlight you can see the reddish tone but inside at home you can't tell the difference. I have dark hair so thats probably why its not working as well. I am planning to apply a second layer of henna since I've heard that if you get layers of henna it'll show up more. so if anybody has any tips or tricks to get my hair red please help me!!

As long as your hair is dark, it will always be just a tint. But my secret is to lighten hair with 40 vol developer only. It's not nearly as harsh as bleach. There are a ton of YouTube tutorials. But after lightening it, apply a semi-permanent red color. I advise that you don't buy a box kit. Go to Sally beauty supply (pro store) and get a couple hair color bottles.

Hi I'm a cosmetologist! henna is a progressive dye so the more you do it the more the red will show but there will be a point where it doesn't get any redder bc your hair is naturally dark.
its important NOT to use regular dye after using henna too. henna has metallics in it that don't react well with hair dye so if you ever make the switch its important to see a pro and mention it to them!
another thing you cam do is add some red food dye to your shampoo, just a few drops will help the color stay more noticeably.

I've heard that I should add lemons in the henna is there any other things I should add to the henna before I apply it?

I've always used a red manic panic stain. It gives the red tint well amd you can add the stain to your conditioner to keep the color fresh as you wash and condition your hair. Manic panic doesn't damage hair either, its all natural and vegan (:
