Girls,
I have a pretty long hair, and have been growing it for ages and take very good care it.
Lately I've been wondering, is it better to sleep with it tied back or loose?
Loose pony, tight bun?

Ideas, tips please

I have semi long hair..
and I like sleeping with it loose because when i wake up in the morning it has volume and curls and it just looks so pretty.
I only have to style parts of it which only takes up to five minutes!

Thanks, my hair is pretty curly, and always is the best the second day when I sleep with it loose.
I just wanted to know which is better -
Guess the BF will have to learn to live with breathing in my hair in the night!

I have very very long, straight hair, and I always sleep with it down because I can't STAND having ponytail bumps and lumps in my hair. It's just easier to sleep with it down, I don't have to worry about an uncomfortable bump on my head either.

I sleep with it down most nights. And I sleep by myself so BONUS!

Like Victoria D. said above, I can't stand having lumps and bumps in my straight hair. Just gather your hair up and lay it dwn over your pillow above your head (if someone were to see you from aerial view, you'd look like the Bride of Frankenstein) so you don't create any dents/sleep on it during the night. My waist-length hair always comes out perfectly straight in the morning when I do this. =)

My hair is long, lower back. Im having issues where when i wake up in the mornings, my hair is so disgusting. Are there like silk caps that ppl wear to prevent sleeping on their hair?

anytime you tie your hair tight it pulls it out the best way is to leave it down but i an a realisit and understand how annoying that could be with long hair so I am going to vote lose pony tail.

I have long hair and I usually dont like sleeping with it down because I wake up and its tangled up and frizzy so I usually sleep with a braid and it gives me beachy waves when I wake up =]

I sometimes braid my hair loosely so they aren't so tangled in the morning. And I have long hair.

I recommend sleeping with it loose. Just grab all of it and put it up on your pillow, so it isn't in your face. It also keeps you from getting any bad hair days!

My hair is long too, down to my waist. Most nights i tie it in a loose ponytail because it gets in my face & sometimes caught under my arms. Never had a problem with keeping it tied, its still healthy & growing.

My hair is pretty long (middle back) & I tend to keep it down when sleeping as having it up irritates me beyond belief - however if I were to put it up - which, on the very rare & very hot occasion I do do, I'd opt for a loose braid (less pull) + probably more comfortable than a bun/pony?

sleeping with silk pillow case or something keeps your hair from breakage and static...i also sleep with it loose and put it above my head over my pillow so i dont actually lay on my hair lol and when i wash my hair i always put leave in conditioner called triple moisture from reg drug stores and my hair is so smooth and deep condition once a week ; )

It's supposed to be loosely braided.

i typically do a loose braid or a loose pony. I have super straight hair that gets pretty tangled up when i sleep... plus, i usually have to flat iron or style my hair in the morning anyways so who cares about bumps n things :)

A loose pony loosly braided. That's how I wear my hair at night and it keeps it from becoming a tangled frizzy mess.

I sleep loose, with it above me spread on the pillow too.

Thanks ladies.
I've been doing the loose bun on top of my head.
Sometimes I lose the pony in my sleep, but it has been really good for wake up and wear looks. :)

I usually sleep with my hair in a high bun. When I take it out in the morning it reduces the frizz and adds volume :)

My hair is naturally really straight, so I don't have to worry about weird bumps or anything. That said, I pretty much always sleep with my hair in a loose braid. I find there's less breakage that way

I seem to be the only male posting to this thread. I have, as you can see from my avatar, hair that is below waist length. Sleeping comfortably with long hair has always been a problem, and I agree with those of you who feel a loose pony tail is the best solution. I am going to try silk pillow cases to reduce friction soon. I will report back on how that worked out.
