My hairs only 14 inches long and I've always wanted long hair but I'm unsure if I should get extensive due to people's opinion on it. Help?

I think if you want longer hair until your real hair grows out further, yes get extensions. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks. Its your hair. My best advice on extensions from experience is don't get the kind you glue in, its messy and hard to get out of your hair.
