I have combination skin so when I apply foundation on my T zone it tends to stay but then if I attempt to apply it on my dry areas, the foundation doesn't apply on smoothly and I have tried moisturing it a lot before applying the foundation. is there a way to create a smoother base for foundation?

I never used to exfoliate but I've started doing it and I'm beginning to see results
I don't use a primer, I don't know if UK has the smashbox

You don't only have to use smashbox but a primer might help.

Yeah primer for sure and usually just dab by brush over the spot and tap over it with my fingers instead.of buffing it in.

Hydrocortisone will thin your skin over time (side effects of corticosteroids). Exfoliate regularly and be sure to apply a moisturizer with hyaluronic acid and ceramides (CeraVe makes an excellent drugstore version, though I'm not sure if it's available in the UK. Apply it to damp skin just after washing your face and let it sink in for 10-15 minutes, if you can, before applying a primer.
My skin is drier than you can possibly imagine, though you'd never know by looking at my finished face.

Edit to add: don't use hydrocortisone just for dry patches. That's not really what it's intended for (apart from dry skin related to something like psoriasis).

I'm not sure if my moisturiser contains that because my doctor prescribed me the cetaphil cream for dry and sensitive skin because my acne medicine dries out even my oily skin.
