You can go to sephora and I think Mac and ask for samples. If you explain that you want to test the product at home before buying it, the sales people will usually give you samples but they are usually pretty small.

Nordstroms, Mac and Sephora...most large retail stores that sell beauty products. Also if you just google "where to get free beauty samples" lots of websites show up. There's Birchbox and Glossybox if you want monthly samples...but I think you have to pay.
