I know its a fishtail braid but I don't know how to get it so messy and stuff.

You need volume and tons of texture!
Use a mousse at roots and a densifer or texturizer on the rest, then blow dry.
Use a powder like osis dust it or even just a dry shampoo at the roots all over and work down a with fingers a a few inches.
Next tease the hair all over and smooth out just a little on the top but not too much since it shouldn't look perfect.
Do your fishtail and add a texturizer on top of it like kenra texturizing taffy or a wax and start pulling at random pieces to mess it up.
Slightly curl the front pieces.
Add hairspray!
