So, to give you the short version I'm 16 I'm English but I live in Spain , I went back to London and did a make-up course after that I got a job doing bridal make-up for a wedding events planning company. I've been doing that for the past year and while I love it I'm starting to think about my future and what career steps I should be taking/thinking about taking.
I would love to be a special effects artist but I have had no training and I'm clueless as to how I would go about doing that, I'm thinking it would involve moving to LA which obviously I wouldn't be doing any time soon.
I was thinking that I should maybe start up a Youtube channel just to put myself out there a little bit and to be honest it would be a great excuse for doing crazy make-up looks daily ha ha :)
I realise this question is very sporadic but hopefully someone out there can guide me a little? thank you

I guess first of all you need to think whether you could afford to move to LA and if you're willing to leave your family and friends behind. LA would be a great place for training but you have to be serious about it.
YouTube: go ahead and start your channel, but remember it takes people years to become established. You have to make the effort, comment other videos, make friends and come up with your own creative videos.
You're always going to have money in bridal makeup. I mean people are always going to have weddings aren't they?
Sorry I couldn't help too much but this is the best I can suggest from what you've told us.
Don't stress, when the right career path comes along you'll know whether to take it or not :)

Thanks so much for your reply Amber, money isn't a problem as I have money put away for the future, leaving my friends and family would be hard but I know that I would have to make sacrifices to make the most out of my life and to get to where I want to be.
I think You tube would be good for me as a way for me to get myself out there, I've'e had a blog for the past 4 years so I know it takes a lot of hard work and commitment to get views and comments and everything else :)
Doing bridal make-up is great for right now and of course is great money but I know deep down that I want more than doing bridal work could give me, from doing make-up jobs around Halloween time and practising on friends I have absolutely fallen in love with special effects.
I know I'm probably too young to be thinking about all of this but I don't want to get myself too used to doing bridal and then never take the jump!
Your reply did help a lot actually, thank you! x
