I don't know fully how to help you cause I have naturally curly hair but after your wash it braid it so it gives it some curl but if you don't like it brush it and the curl it, it may help

Its going to be really hard as its so long, try a higher heat setting or a different curler? Keep the curler on for more seconds!! And use freeze but aussie hairspray!! Best hairspray around!!

Put some light holding heat protectant spray on the piece of hair you're going to curl and wrap it around the barrel for 5 seconds or more. Not more than 10 seconds because you'll damage your hair. Then, pin up the curl and go on to the next piece of hair. Once the pinned up curls are cool, let them down and use a teeny bit of holding spray. Don't use too much product or it will weigh down on the curls and flatten them. I have long hair too and I use a karmin clipless curling iron.
