Hello girls, I have not experienced any of them because all my life I have been using ordinary paint on all my nails. What is the best for a first-timer like me? Acrylic, Gel or Shellac? And what are their pros and cons?

I always use acrylic. It can hurt the first time but I like the look a lot better. They are very strong and you can get them any shape or length. You have to get them filled every two weeks. I recommend finding a nail technician who you like and going to them every time.

Shellac! Shellac is the only one of the three that won't damage your nail plate when it is taken off. I do shellac on a lot of my customers and they seem to enjoy it more than gel and acrylics

I also did not know Gel and Shellac were not the same thing! Also the UV lamps aren't strong enough to be a serious cancer risk :)

It depends what you're looking for , gel is more flexible and will move more with your natural nail, less likely to have it torn off really painfully, acrylic are strong and beautiful, can be done very quickly, my favourite nails to do and receive are fibreglass nails, they are not porous and do not allow water or bacteria through, you can polish them without a base coat and are very very thin, it's a tedious process but they are beautiful. They are PH balanced at 5.5 so you never have to worry about water or anything being trapped and causing fungus or other nail disorders!

Check out gelish. I use it. I feel like its stronger that shellac. It's a little cheaper and its more like actual gel than shellac. I bought a lamp for 28$ off of amazon and they have an awesome starter kit for $50. And they have better colors.
