With biotin you have to take in LOTS of water or you will break out. Keeping yourself hydrated with this vitamin is a must!

Crazy thing is I drink about 2liters a day..along with green tea one cup of coffee. I'm sure coffee doesn't help but I'm absolutely done with it then I found out it's not even fda approved I don't know how true that is but I'm not taking them anymore.

Biotin is for those who SUFFER from Biotin DEFICIENCY. or a related ILLNESS. It CANNOT make your hair grow faster, and the results you gain from it you can gain from a regular hair treatment, healthy diet, and with TLC. Or by taking other vitamins rich in protein or iron. You get enough Biotin from your daily intake of food, therefore you do not need any extra. Don't believe what most people tell you on here... a lot of them see a result and repeat it to others. Always research, research, research before you take advice from anyone on here. Most people on here are misinformed, and that's okay-not everyones perfect and not everyone likes to go by credibility. But if you're going to do it to yourself you should research it to a T because you don't know how badly it might affect you.
To promote hair growth you most definitely should:
Massage your scalp at least 4 minutes. You can do this dry hair, wet hair, whenever.
Treatments are boss. Try coconut oil, castor oil, and olive oil. Another favorite is avocado and olive oil. There are recipes everywhere, just find the time to sit down and look up 'DIY Treatments for XYZ type hair.'
Healthy diet and exercise are a must. I recommend a paleo diet, you'll be allowed to eat anything in the healthiest manner possible. ( Imagine ice cream... that's healthy.. Pancakes... healthy.. Deserts.. healthy I know people who do it without exercise and are losing fat anyways. )
Take lots of vitamins... then get 15 minutes of sun. Your hair needs lots of protein and iron. Iron works, amazingly. I've taken it for a vigorous exercise course I had to take and let me say my nails were long and strong.
Stay away from heat, and other harsh things. For your hair to grow it needs TLC.. besides who wants long damaged hair??
Genetics plays an important role. Your hair is actually supposed to grow up to a certain length before it falls off. So if you're not meant to have extremely long hair, don't sweat it.
Remember you cannot make it grow faster, only promote growth. Through less breakage, and TLC you will see good results.
These are my results... This was after 2 weeks of just following all the above. I began on the 12th of September, and took this picture on the 26th ( Exactly two weeks. )

I tried Biotin years ago before I went to cosmetology school and found out it won't do shit. I did notice small results but I account that to the fact I don't have the best diet as I often forget to eat when I'm busy. I had no adverse reactions, so I have trouble believing that it would actually be the cause of your break outs. So many things can cause you to break out it's unreal. From different make ups, skin care products, things you eat, stress, etc.
Kitty - Sun light will not make your hair grow. That will only give you wrinkles. Yes, sunlight causes your body to produce vitamin D which is good for hair growth but you don't have to have direct exposure, you can simply sit in a room with windows on a sunny day in non direct sunlight. Also, drinking milk does the same. Also, you shouldn't take "lots of vitamins with iron" without consulting a doctor. Because you CAN give yourself iron poisoning. You should always consult a doctor about any and all vitamins and supplements you are taking. Some of the things that are good for you in small doses can be extremely harmful if you overdose such as iron and zinc.

@Danielle- I was advised by a doctor that while taking vitamins, you should always get 15 minutes of sunlight in order to help those vitamins to come to the surface. This is a method that has been used throughout the century.. I had forgotten to explain it- My apologies.. And I did not advise to take lots of vitamins with Iron, I recommended to take Iron. Two little pills with a meal throughout the day cannot murder you, if you go out of your way to take 15 pills when there is a recommended dosage than that is out of my hands. . :) And if sunlight will give me wrinkles... then I should look like I am 90 years old. Which is funny because I've had people think I am 12? I live in sunny miami and I am not going to walk around with curtains just to avoid sun- Just because wrinkles. Wrinkles will always be a part of your life, it's almost funny to think that someone would go around avoiding sun like a vampires just because wrinkles!

Correction: over exposure to sun gives wrinkles, not casual exposure I lived in FL to there's no way to avoid it. Iron will also cause headaches so people will know ahead of time if you're getting too much.

Same thing happened to me, but all over my legs :( yeah, fatty white heads on your legs are not cute at all! I couldn't kneel either- too painful!! I stopped taking them then starting taking a different brand (The first one was just Target brand I think, and the new one is Superior Source) in a lower dosage (I think) and no pimples! Yay!! I wouldn't give up on it 100% if you really do want the benefits, you just have to work with it I guess. My hair and skin and nails have been AMAZING since I started taking it again.

@kitty- about the iron, some people in my family suffer from having too much iron in their system, (I don't remember the name of the "disease") but there's no symptoms. You need to get blood work done to find out. My gramma and an aunt have it both and they have to avoid food with high levels of iron and even one iron supplement will send them into the hospital for a week and causes severe complications. I agree with @danielle about seeing your doctor first. I recomend getting complete blood work done for your vitamin and mineral levels, they can recomend a proper diet based on what your lacking in as well as a proper multi-vitamin or single vitamin supplements. Hair and nails both show you inner body health. Please see your doctor.

Sorry I need to correct myself *** there are symptoms with having too much iron and it's the same symptoms of having an iron deficiency. So people tend to take iron supplements which actually make it worse. Sorry again for my mistake.

I've been taking biotin for about a month now and I haven't had any problems with it. I guess the results really vary for everyone but my hair seems in great condition lately not sure if it's the biotin or the argan oil but whatever it is it's working. I can't think of anything that really promotes hair growth. My hair used to be bum length and I cut it off into a bob lol I think just generally being healthy on the inside will help the most xx

I never said avoid the sun like the plague or avoid casual sun. I simply explained that it isn't necessary to get direct sun exposure. I'm sure we all know by now that sun damage is cumlative an while of course you shouldn't live your life in constant fear of the sun, all sun exposure adds up so I am not going to go out of my way to get direct sun exposure.
