Hello ladies so my nail tech keeps trying to talk me into this new form of gel fill ins, I currently have acyrilics which I love but is this new gel thing better? will it not damage my nails as much? and its more expensive... any opinions?? does anyone have this new trend?

I don't have anything on my nails right now, trying to give them a breather. But I have tried acrylic and bio gel, I loved the bio gel. It cost about $15 more but it looked lasted longer and it looked better especially if you want natural looking nails or French Polish. They don't crack like acrylics. I would recommend trying it.

Gel doesn't damage your nails as much, it looks more natural, and the way I've seen gel put on was similar to painting a coat of nail polish. but I haven't seen them be like more than 20-25 dollars.

Gel nails still damage your nails the top coat you put on is UV gel and thats just a polish that stays on longer it last for like 2 weeks and does not chip off a gel extention is still a fake tip put on and gel over it just like they would do acyrilics I did nails for years and I can tell you its just more money and takes longer unless you don't have a tip and your using your own nails

@traci I have tips on and they said I would need to get a whole new set put on. with that should I take them off let them breath then put them back on with the gel?

They look nice but your still damaging your nails either way you still have to put a tip on I have had tips since I was 17 you can let them breath if you want to but there still going to buff your nail down to put the new tip on so it is the same thing as getting acyrilics they just look alittle more natural you don't have to wait unless your nail beds are sore when you take your tips off.

I have had sculpted gels before, which is they don't use a tip just sculpt one with the gel. They are very comfortable and look so nice. But you will still have some damage either way you go. I think in my opinion gels are less damaging. And make sure if you choose gels that it's actually gel and not the "powder gel"
