Anyone have any tips to go from dark brown to an ash blonde or light brown and eliminate any brassiness?

I would go to a professional if you aren't trained on it, because you will have to have it lightened one or two times with an ash blonde, and then toned to remove any brassiness. If you don't plan on going to light, just make sure you pick out an ash colour from the drugstore.

If you don't have your hair colored you can use regular color with developer. you can go about 3 shades lighter with regular color and 40 volume. say your a level 5 you can go to an 8 or a 9 whatever shade you want with 40 volume. there's also high lift colors that take more developer and 40 volume and will lift your hair more then 3 or 4 shades.
or bleach it with 20 volume if it doesn't get light enough lighten again after cobditioning. to remove brassy tones use a violet or viole/blue toner
best idea is to go to a salon though
