I am looking for a beauty/cosmetology school to go to in Arizona. I don't care much about learning to do hair I am mostly interested in make up. I was wondering if someone can tell me a good school or what to look for when trying to find a school?? also if someone could explain what the difference between cosmetology and esthetician certifications would be? thanks in advance.

I googled it and I found this. It seems very helpful with your question. http://schoolofba.com/difference-between-esthetican-and-cosmetology-school/
I know there is an esthetics class at my local college and the class for makeup is 39 hours. Then there are classes for body waxing, skin care, manicures, pedicures, all in classes that are 45-60 hours. So the main focus is not makeup if that is what you are looking to go for. It is more for spa type work.
It really depends what you are wanting to do.

If you are wanting to just really do makeup I personally wouldn`t spend all that time and money and things you don`t plan on using. I know in my area there are schools JUST for makeup. There is a school in Toronto is like the mother of all makeup schools. It is called complections. You should look it up. There might be something in your area like that. I also know that succesful makeup artists in the area sometimes have "bootcamps" where you can get certified as a makeup artist. Another thing is modelling agencies. The one in my area has a certified makeup class taught by industry professionals and they take a few photos near the end so you can have some images for your portfolio and they have a photographer come in and talk to us and we use their models to put makeup on.

If your looking to only do make up cosmetology school is not what youre looking for. maybe esthetics but you really don't need a license to do make up. take art classes and theater make up at your local community college.
