Basic eyeshadow layering/application help

Hi All! I know this may be basic stuff, but makeup is not something that comes naturally to me so I thought I'd ask some knowledgeable people for some help.

So, any help on how to apply and layer colors, shimmer and matte would be really helpful! Thanks!

shimmer looks best on the browbone and inner tear duct. UNLESS you are doing party makeup of some sort
