You would have to chemically lighten it for vibrant colors to show. I do recommend lifting hair with 30 vol developer only(less harsh than bleach.) I've done it before and it works. you can get it to a light brown so the color will show up, it's just a longer processing time than bleach.I then recommend depositing the color after that.
