I have been highlighting my hair for years and have used the same lady (she is a good family friend). She does a great job and is super cheap. The problem is she uses a cap. My hair when i was in high school was a dark blond but now it is more medium brown. So now when she uses the cap it doesn't get all the way to the scalp and it looks like i have roots before i even leave the place. I understand that there will always be maintenance with having dyed blonde hair but still right when i get it done it should look good for awhile. Right? Because sometimes it does. Also is using a cap ok for your hair because i feel like it breaks my hair more? At one point I went to a couple other people who foiled it, but they just ended up frying my hair (i don't have good luck with stylist experimentation O_o)! Im not sure what to do or if there is a way to tell her to pull it that will make it better. HELP PLEASE!!!

Im attaching a picture of me the day i got my hair done. I love the color of it but right at the part you can see my dark root... Is there anything i can do or just going to have to foil, go darker or suck it up? --Thanks

I foil hair when I Highlight hair. I feel I have more control over placement as well as I can get closer to the scalp. If a stylist fried your hair when she used foils its either because she had you under heat too long (over processed) or they used a harsh bleach. If you can find a stylist that uses Matrix bleach, you will probably have a better time. I use Aveda's Enlightener during the day and then I use Matrix at night when I'm doing hair from home and I MUCH refer matrix.

In a nutshell, using a cap is outdated and you can't get close enough to the scalp to have a good finished product.
