(I hope the picture is right-side up!)
Basically, my mom asked if I could figure out what her hair is doing by asking people of the internet. Around her hairline, she's got these hairs that aren't really short but not long enough to hide. She doesn't know if they're baby hairs or if it's her hair breaking off. She's got very thin, very dry hair that has been colored too many times to count.
If anyone's got any answers, she'd be grateful!

Here's a fairly easy way to tell. Hold the end of the hair with your index and thumb, then with your other hand (same digits) run up along the hair until you get to the scalp. If it's smooth feeling, they're most likely baby hairs, if it's rough feeling, that indicates the hair is damage and is most likely breakage.
Has she switched or started any new medications? I actually just recently had a guest in my salon who started a new med and was causing her receding hairline to actually start growing in
