Your hair sounds like mine and the only thing I have found for my hair is to wash it twice when I'm in the shower and rinse in cool water :)

I have thick hair to. Before I wash it I separate it into for pony tails two at the top and two in the back. And make sure that a comb through them because wet hair I more brittle. And then just wash one section at a time. Then condition all at once by distributing it on all the ends. Try it.

Wash hair with warmer water and rinse out the conditioner and go over your scalp with cold water to close and set your cuticles and make sure everything is rinsed thoroughly.
