Hey everyone,

I have oily and acne prone skin but recently I have been breaking out on my upper lip and lip area. The pimples are large and painful and they are half on my lip and half on the upper lip area. I haven't changed my skincare regimen or anything like that and nothing like benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid will penetrate them. I know that I am allergic to lip balms with mineral oil in them so I am careful not to use them but that's the only irritant that I know of and avoid. Any tips or tricks would be a godsend for me. Thanks!

Hello! I recommend using a gentle cleanser, toner, and moisturizer. I suggest trying Simple Skincare products, they are very gentle and won't irritate your skin. Also, chemicals like benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid are really horrible for your skin and they actually don't treat acne. It is used as a quick fix for acne but it's not really solving the problem. They are also very harsh on the skin and permanently damages the skin and it also has bleaching properties. I used benzoyl peroxide about 5 years ago for only a week and it has noticeably damaged the skin around my nose. Try using natural witch hazel on the acne. Dab a small amount on a cotton ball or dilute it with water and gently pat it on your face. You can also try using African Black Soap which is known to help treat acne. However it can be drying and for some people it stings their face, but try using it once and see how you like it, my boyfriend swears by it and it has helped clear up his acne.

I agree with Shauna S. I would also recommend trying a cleanser with glycolic acid instead. I use Glytone Step-Up cleanser for part of my acne care regimen.
