If you don't want a bold lip, maybe a brighter pink? Kinda like a fuchsia pink, but you can probably find one that isn't tooooooooooo bold. Even a lipgloss in that colour would work since gloss is usually sheerer than lipstick would be.

Playing with lip color is fun! This summer I was super into cotton candy pinks. Now I'm playing more with the wine colored lip stain idea. You can get a dark color, and instead of applying it directly to your lips, you can tap a little on with your finger, which gets you a much softer color and line. That might be a nice thing to try. There are also some colors that are half moisturizer, so they've got some pigment, but they're not ALL pigment. Fresh comes to mind and Clinique's chubby sticks. Definitely give it a shot! You can always try it in your bedroom and never leave the house with it, if you're uncertain. If you're up for spending a little more, my favorite lipstick ever is Inglot. It feels light and has a nice smell to it.
