Hi girls,I know I shouldn't put it in this category, but I have no idea where should I put this to..
ok, so I love nail art, but I never take any nail course, I had only paint my nail when I'm free, do you guys think I should take a course first before I become manicurist? Or just go interview as a manicurist and learn all the skills slowly?

To be a manicurist I think you have to have some sort of certification. maybe it's different in other states?

To become a manicurist school is required because you have to be licensed in the state in which you reside. Before taking the plunge it would probably be wise to interview working manicurists and see them in action. Its a fun job I'm sure but its not always a pretty one (dealing with not so lovely feet, difficult clients, etc). They could definitely direct you on how to proceed and offer some sound gems of advice.

I don't know where you live but in NY you need a license to work with nails. To get that you will need to take a course. I would take a course first it's not a long process. For a manicurist it's not all about nail art. You will have to work with the cuticle and for that's I believe taking a course it's better. Good luck with your choice.

Yes you have to go through a cosmetology school :) I think it only takes a few months though

My friend was in a similar situation and when she went to go to an interview they told her that she has to get her license or else no one could hire her.

Also I think it's called a nail tech because you'll be doing peticures too :)

I'm thinkin' in almost every state you need a license for that. Where I live it's only a 400 hour course, which shouldn't take too long and probably won't be too expensive, depending on the school you attend. Good luck!(:

I don't know about where you live but most places require you to be licensed. Where I live you either need a nail tech license or a cosmetology license.

But personally, of you're going to go for a nail tech program I think I'd be an even better idea to just do cosmetology school and get a cosmetology license because it covers everything (at least in my state) and being flexible is always good.
