So I recently became a VIB at Sephora for spending $300 in a calendar year at the store. Along with the new card, I received a welcome "gift."
It included a coupon for a full makeup service, a coupon for free shipping on an online order, and a 10% off coupon.
Don't get me wrong, the makeup service and free shipping is awesome! And I'm definitely thankful! But 10% off? Believe me, I'll take what I can get. It's still better than paying full price, but I did the math on some of the products I want, and it was only like $2 cheaper. :/ I feel like they could have AT LEAST offered 15% off, let alone 20%. I just feel that for spending $300, everyone deserves a little more than $2 off a product.
Also, when my mom became a VIB a little while ago, she received a compact mirror which I thought was pretty nice. But I guess they're no longer giving those out.
I just want to hear your thoughts on this!?

I don't know. I mean...I'm a VIB as well, but I think that 10% isn't awful. Not to mention the free shipping and makeup service. I think that yeah, it's not a whole lot but it's definitely worth it. (Especially to the people that want to buy like $200 worth of stuff). I understand where you're coming from, it doesn't seem like they value their customers from that standpoint, but they definitely do, and they want to keep us for sure.

Ya I guess it's just an okay deal but they could have have us nothing like most other stores. During the holiday season they gave me a coupon for $20 dollars off a purchase of $50 or more which I thought was really generous! I got my $52 Naked Palette for only $32! Sephora also gives really good gifts when you spend 500 points!

Hannah W: I know, I mean I don't want to sound ungrateful because it's waaay better than nothing! I know they value their customers. I just feel the discount could have been a little more! That's all. :)
Hannah A: I used the $20 off of $50 which was amazing! I bought $54 worth of products for 35. Which is part of the reason I was surprised the VIB gift it only 10%, because the $20 off is such a great deal!

Oh I agree with you and I'm definitely not calling you ungrateful :) but I agree with Hannah A, that they sort of spread their gifts to us evenly throughout the year.

I agree that its not a whole lot, but ar least its something. throughout the year I'm always getting coupons like $20 off of $50 which isn't bad. online is where most of the savings are because they do free gift bags and you can turn in your points for free stuff.

I recently became a VIB rouge (the highest level) and they've given me a ton of free stuff, lipsticks perfume samples, eyeliners (I've had the card for like a week) And also I get free makeup services any time and free shipping all the time, with the reg. VIB card you get free stuff too so I think it's worth it :)

I think it's ridiculous that your status expires eventually. It's a marketing ploy to get customers to keep spending money, with very little incentive. I love Sephora regardless though.

Mairead: I known they do truly value their customers. The Sephora/makeup community is very tight knit, which is why I though it should've been a little bit more. And when I really think about it, I've spent $300 on MAKEUP. That actually is pretty crazy. 😂
Nicole: I wish it didn't expire either. :( I think you should be able to keep your VIB or Rouge status, not have to maintain it by continuing to spend.

Sephora gives everyone perks all the time. Yeah two dollars off isn't much, but it's something. I work at sephora, we give samples all the time, coupons when there are some, and the free rewards for points. Not to mention, a free birthday perk. Who else gives free perks for spending money with them? It won't be a lot if your only buying a little bit of items. I'd suggest using it for a large purchase.
