So every palette comes with a black shadow.. I have never used black in my life and I kinda stay away from the dark colors. Call me stupid, but how do you use black eyeshadow to look good??

For a more wearable look you can layer it over other eyeshadows on the outer corner of your eyelid for example put a brown color in your crease then add more depth to it by puting it from the middle of your crease to the end blend everything out.

I feel like that is going to be so harsh looking on me :(

What kind of completion do you have?

Use it when you apply liner to set it and darken it. I doubt it'll look harsh on you unless you don't know what you're doing and make a big mess with it. You can even take a liner brush and make a soft cat eye with it. You can tight line your eyes with it. Black eyeshadows barely come on as black as they seem just a few prestige brands have a black that's pitch black.

After you put mascara on, take a liner brush and fill in any sparse areas on your lash line!

I usually almost ALWAYS add a little bit of black in my crease. Unless the arrangement of colors I have is very fair, I pretty much always do it. On a little smudge brush, crease brush, or even if your just starting and you don't have much, you could use the tip of an applicator. Just put a little bit in your crease and then with a blending brush blend it out. And obviously add more as desired. ^u^

Black can be used for so many different things lol. You can use to create a smokey eye, you can add just a little bit to your outer v for definition & drama! You can use it with an angled brush for eyeliner, or you can use it to set eyeliner! Black is a must have! There's just so much you can do with it! I would just play around with it 😊

I use it for a thin liner on a qtip or winged liner brush.

You could use a small pencil like brush to apply the black on the very outter corner, and then blend it out. You can smudge it on the lower lashes (to make the black less harsh, mix it with a brown), and you can line your upper lash line for a less harsh eyeliner look :) aside from these ways, you can create a super dramatic smokey eye. Blending and mixing is the key :)

http://www.beautylish.com/f/gzaivu/natural-drama this is a pretty simple but dramatic look that I did using black in the crease. You don't have to do such a defined crease, though. if you just take a fluffy brush and blend it out it would be a little bit less intense.
http://www.beautylish.com/f/gvnciu/new-years-eve in this look I just added some black to my outer v and blended it out.
http://www.beautylish.com/f/grrxsv/its-beginning-to-look-a-lot-like-christmas I'm not completely positive on what I did in this look, but if I were to do this now, I would most likely set the liner thats on my waterline because that usually tends to bleed at the corners most.
http://www.beautylish.com/f/grrxsr/blue-christmas in this look I obviously used it in the crease, but I also used some to line my lower lash line.
http://www.beautylish.com/f/gcqmjr/green-with-envy in this look I'm like 98% positive that I put a little bit of black in the crease, and if it wasn't black it was just a really dark green, but it still gives a similar affect with definition and shape.
So as you can see, there are SO MANY ways to use black eyeshadow, and these don't even show all of the possibilities. But if youre worried about putting too much on, then just work very slowly and pace yourself. just put the slightest bit in your crease and blend it. and then do it again and again and keep layering until you have your desired intensity.
