I would like to invest in some higher end foundation but I'm a little nervous because in the past anything that has been recommended to me has either been too light or too dark. Do you think I would have better luck going to a Mac counter or to sephora to get some make up forever matte velvet plus?

It would be a good idea to know what your shade is in MAC since it seems to be the "universal" chart. If you know you're a NW15 in MAC it makes it easier in shade selection for other foundations. I personally did not like MAC foundation and I wanted to so bad! It all depends what you're looking for. What kind if coverage etc..I use MUFE HD Foundation and lover it. I am so pale and the shade matches, it has the med. to full coverage I'm looking for, and the consistency is like silk. There's a website vibration.com that you put in 2 foundations that are a match to you and it gives you your shade in most every brand. There are some great drugstore foundations as well. Just reading on here I see several that are mentioned repeatedly like Revlon Colorstay, L'oreal True Match, and Garnier BB Cream.

Thanks so much :) I have always wanted to try color stay as well but was scared I'd have a heard time making the match.

I've only tried Mac and it was okay. I think I feel in love with Nars personally so I am judgemental on foundations. I've never tried makeup forever. It is a good idea to always test these products out. Have you tried any of them?

Jenny I feel for ya regarding finding a shade that matches. Do you know if you have warm or cool undertones? An easy way to find out..does gold or silver jewelry look better on you? Also, are you using a primer under foundation? Concealer?

Jenny, I'm not sure, but if you are as fair as you apart in your profile pic you may want to check out Chanel foundations, I'm very very fair in the winter, but have a rose undertone and their foundations are fantastic.

I'm not sure on the undertones though I think I look better in silver? My face is often flushed? Haha redish. I do use a primer and usually drugstore concealer.

I tried a mufe sample once and LOVED it. As of right now I have been just wearing primer and bb cream so I don't necessarily need crazy coverage... Just something a little more ya know?
