I splurge on skincare because it doesn't make sense to me to collect beautiful makeup regardless of the price point if my canvas (my face) looks a wreck. I only get one chance with my skin so I have to treat it right. As far as makeup goes I stopped splurging on mascara after discovering some drugstore gems that work better than the department/speciality brands.
