Actually I apply highlighter to the parts of the face Mairead said she puts bronzer. Bronzer is more for warming up your face or contouring. You see it used more on the edges of the face- temples, jawline.

No, Mairead is right, bronzer is to warm up your face. It's not supposes to be used for contouring, as bronzers are often sheer, orangey or shimmery. To contour with a bronzer you would have to apply a heck of a lot, and that's not the point. Bronzer is just to warm your face up a little if you feel you look pale or washed out :)

Well bronzer can be used to contour.
Too Faced chocolate soleil
Benefit hoola
Nars Laguna
Mac blunt
All of these are good to use for contour.
NYC sunny
Mac give me sun
Nyx matte bronzer
These are more for warming up the face.
Contour is more dramatic but doesn't have to be. It just depends on how dark and how far in you take your bronzer. To warm up the face you use a larger brush and you don't have to be too precise. With contour, it's about precision and placement. You're mimicking shadows and sculpting.
As for highlight, take it to high points and places you want more emphasis.
Lastly, blush. This is more circumstantial because there are many ways to apply it and there really isn't a wrong way (as long as you follow the usual ways) but there are more flattering ways. Round faces, oval faces, squared... All of these have different ways. Try google images and you'll find the right one for you :)

I personally use bronzer as an all over glow because I'm always self tanned and my face stays lighter than my body. Blush is used on the apples of your cheeks. Contouring is not necessary. I agree with Jacqueline. The biggest thing I've learned is that you have to do what looks good on you. I used to watch YouTube videos on how to apply makeup all the time. I saw they were using primer, foundation, concealer, blush, highlighter, bronzer, lipstick, eyeshadow Ect. And the title of the video would be like "everyday look for school". Anyway my point is do your makeup however it looks the most flattering on you.

Oh and a disclaimer: not that there's anything wrong with using that much makeup for an every day look. I just can't pull it off myself.
