Whoa I've never heard of an iron making your hair stink? :( you could be using a setting that's too high for your hair. test it on a paper towel first... if it turns brown turn the setting down.

I agree with Symone and Jocelyn, Conair is cheap and efficient.

Both of mine are Conair and I love them. they aren't too expensive either.
