I did a smokey eye for the first time a few days ago and didn't realize how difficult it was! It was such a mess. Can you experienced ladies give me some tips? And also a good black base for creating this look?

I'd like to follow this post as well. Jacqueline H. explains it perfectly but I still can't get it right lol
I believe a black Kohl liner is great to use because you can easily smudge it.

One common thing people assume about Smokey eyes is that it's always black/gray/white. You can do a Smokey eye with any colors and it'll will actually look much better if you follow your coloring. For example green eyes and blonde hair would look great in a plum purple Smokey eye. Another tip is blend, blend, blend then blend some more and keep all the darkest color concentrated at your lashline. Lastly, practice makes perfect! Hope that helped some!

I find it easier to start with the lighter colors first. Makes the placement much easier!

You're saying I can use an eyeliner alone to create that look?

Thank you so much, those pictorials are lovely. I have a hard time making the right shape for my eye.. Like I go out too far or something.. It doesn't look right.

Don't feel bad Beth!! The look Jacqueline posted is EXACTLY how I'd like to do my smokey eye makeup but I too end up looking like a mess & girl, you know that's A LOT of black to clean up & start all over!! So, Ill b practicing right along w/ you! Maybe we can help each other? I can tell you what worked or didn't work for me thru this endeavor. Lol ;-) I've just been starting slow. Like the last time I gave it a go I only used black liner putting it on a bit thicker than normally & smudged it out adding more a little @ a time. Good luck w/ yours<3
