Hey. I'm a fair skinned girl afraid of bold lipcolors. I'm looking to get my first red matte lipstick to ease into. Any suggestions for a flattering yet not too bold color?

It really depends on your skin tone. Youve got to pick a color depending on your undertone (peach/pink, yellows). For peachy undertones with pale skin, either a bright firetruckish red or a deep burgandy is best. I'm exactly like you and I was very wary of wearing red because I also have thin lips. First start with a tint or a sheer red, then up to a lipstick. When you are ready, I use a matte lipstick from sephora that goes on like lipgloss, yet stays on FOREVER and looks amazing. When I get home I'll get you the name, because I now love wearing red!

If you're looking to go less bold, a burgandy-ish lip tint would be best. Korres has a lip butter that is not only a beautiful sheer color, but makes lips so soft. Try that and see how you like it!

NYX has a matte red called Alabama that's nice. Matte might be less scary:)

I totally agree with ^^^ Erin S. or if you want just a bit brighter go with nyx matte lipstick in pure red. Both are really really great but Alabama is dark which I like cause I'm more in the dark tone

Nyx has very pigmited lipsticks. They apply of smoothly and have a huge selection of lipsticks from a line a matte lipsticks to its ordinary lipsticks. And its only like $5 so i would pick up a nyx lipstick from ulta

Since you are unsure about the color, I would try some different Wet n Wild lipsticks. They are fantastic and the best part is they are only $.99- 1.99 each so you can pick up a few at a time. I know you will find a shade you like!

If you want to splurge, Illamasqua Sangers (available only on Illamasqua's website if you're in the US). I will warn you the formula is a little dry, so you may want to moisturize your lips first. If that's not your shade, they have several reds to choose from, so you're bound to find something you like.
Another thing you can do is use just a red lip liner, or try something like a lip butter. (The Revlon ones are pretty good. Candy Apple is a nice red.)

If your looking to ease into lip color I would actually start with a lip stain. Theyre a bit less bold for a newbie lolI would try one from reckon bc they're very good & don't cost a lot in case u hate it & never use it!

go to any drugstore and find the Revlon Balm stain lip colors!!! it's a lip balm and a lip stain in one. Looks exactly as any lipstick would look, but has a slight shine to them. They're AMAZING and they're only $7-$8 :) :)
